Because the woman getting out of that car works for me.\u201d<br \/>\nI stared at the monitor.<br \/>\n\u201cWhat?\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI told you we needed to protect you quickly.\u201d<br \/>\nThe woman approached Michael and handed him a document.<br \/>\nHe read the first page.<br \/>\nHis face changed.<br \/>\n\u201cWhat did you do?\u201d I whispered.<br \/>\nThomas\u2019s voice was calm.<br \/>\n\u201cThe power of attorney naming Michael has been formally revoked.\u201d<br \/>\nI exhaled.<br \/>\n\u201cAnd that\u2019s not all.\u201d<br \/>\nMichael flipped to the second page.<br \/>\nHis face went white.<br \/>\nThomas continued.<br \/>\n\u201cI also filed notice challenging the authenticity of the original document.\u201d<br \/>\nMichael looked directly at my camera.<br \/>\nFor the first time in my life, I saw fear in my son\u2019s eyes.<br \/>\nThen Thomas said the words that made me understand Christmas was about to become the least of my children\u2019s problems.<br \/>\n\u201cMaggie, if that signature was forged, someone committed a crime.\u201d<br \/>\nI watched Michael crush the papers in his fist.<br \/>\nBut instead of leaving, he lifted his phone and called someone.<br \/>\nSeconds later, my own phone buzzed.<br \/>\nA message from Lisa.<br \/>\nMOM, PLEASE DON\u2019T INVOLVE THE POLICE.
